On Saturday7th we have organized a special day tour with some of ICE-SAR´s super jeeps. The aim is to introduce ICE-SAR‘s use of super jeeps in search and rescue and look at the newest lava on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

Reykjanes peninsula lies where the North-Atlantic Ocean ridge comes ashore, and the manifestations of the continental rift zone between North America and Eurasia are prominent. Reykjanes (meaning the steam peninsula) features a unique volcanic landscape with 55 defined geosites, including the Fagradalsfjall volcano that erupted in 2021 and again for a short period in 2022.
The tour will start by visiting Seltún, a colorful geothermal area right by the road and easily accessible.
From there we will head to Geldingadalir to view the lava fields of the recent volcanic eruptions.
13:00 Traditional Icelandic lunch at the base of SAR and Injury Prevention in Grindavík. After lunch we will see a short introduction about the operations regarding the eruption, amazing pictures and hear stories from the locals.
15:00 Blue Lagoon where we relax and enjoy the beautiful scenario the lagoon has to offer.
16.30 Departure from the Blue Lagoon.
Arrival back to Reykjavík is between 17:30 and 18:00. Light snack, lunch and admission fee to the Blue Lagoon is included in the tour.
